I have seen many incidents on the news lately and I personally think that no race is superior to another. I don’t understand why people look at others and judge them by their race and not by who they are. I haven’t personally experienced someone being racist towards me but I have definitely seen it happening to others. I had a friend in primary school who was Muslim and struggled with people judging her. As she was Muslim she wasn’t allowed to show her skin so many people made fun of her especially during the summer months. I never understood why because she was one of the kindest people I have never met. However, those people didn’t see that, all they saw was her religion. Personally, I don’t think I have ever been racist because I have always and still think that everyone is equal no matter what they look like or due to their race and beliefs.

As a person who is living in the 21st century, I can’t believe that I’m still able to see racism against people. In social media, in real life and any place we could use and see is full of racism. Even now there are thousands of people who are just died or killed just because of their race and people who saw it or heard it doesn’t do anything about it at least till know. Yes, people are protesting, that’s great but aren’t we late to do that. Did we need to wait until people suffer from it and of course there are people died that we even never heard it on news? I don’t want it to mention old America or the whole world. Like 100 (maybe even less) years ago, people were treated differently just for their skin colour. When I was in the English Learning Centre here in Melbourne, I was able to see that people were saying bad things or acting badly just because some students didn’t know English that well. I was just shocked to see that teenagers that same age as me can act like that.

Most influential figures who have fought against racism.

Racism has always been a challenging topic for anyone to speak up about especially in past generations. Although, there have been several figures who have gone to great extents and risked a lot while at it, for racial equality in their country and around the world. Many of these acts have had enormous impacts on today's and past societies. Racial equality wouldn’t be the same if it weren't for these historic figures who have transformed equal rights for all people.

Martain Luther King, Jr born on January 15th 1929, changed the lives of all African American in his time and the upcoming decades. His actions caused huge impacts on racial equality all around the world, and for the first time ever African Americans were given privileges and respect they could only ever dream about having before. Martin believed that all were created equal and no matter our indifference in skin colour, we should all have the same rights and privileges. He was the biggest American civil rights activist in his time, but the one thing that set him apart was how he boldly ingrained the idea of nonviolent strikes, protests and speeches to his followers. After this home was bombed in 1956, he simply prayed with his church for the people who did it instead of turning to violent and angry outcomes. On August 28, 1963, he made one of the most historic speeches in American history “I have a dream.” This speech was delivered on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C to over 250,000 supporters and changed the minds of millions all over the world, still to this day.

He changed the passage to the ‘Civil right Act of 1964’ and the ‘Voting Rights act of 1965’. The Civil Rights Act banned discrimination in the workforce and public accommodations based on "race, colour, religion, or national origin. As well as giving African Americans the right to vote. In 1968 the ‘Fair Housing act of 1968’ was changed because of his major contribution. This prevents people from banning black people from any sort of housing, either a rental or a sale.

Rosa Louise McCauley Parks was an American activist in the civil rights movement best known for her role in the Montgomery bus boycott. On December 1st, 1955 Rosa was asked by the bus driver to give up her seat to a white man, but she refused and was arrested. This small act caused a historical affect and cause nationwide efforts to end racial segregation of public facilities. Word soon got out about her brave act and the African American community were asked to stay off city buses on Monday, December 5th, 1955, the day of her trial on protest for her arrest. African Americans were encouraged to walk or bike wherever they went known as the Montgomery Bus boycott run by Martin Luther King. This movement was a huge success's lasting for 381 days and ending with a Supreme Court ruling declaring segregation on public transit systems to be unconstitutional. Rosa suffered major consequences after the bus boycott which caused her to move cities the loss of her husband's job. Parks then became a symbol to the civil rights movement. Rosa Parks then went on in 1987, with her friend Elaine Eason Steele, Parks founded the Rosa and Raymond Parks Institute for Self-Development. The organization runs "Pathways to Freedom" bus tours, introducing young people to important civil rights and Underground Railroad sites throughout the country.

Even after the death of these two influential figures, their actions changed society as we know it today. You will no longer find black people and white people forced to sit on separate sections of the buses or drink from separate drink taps in public spaces. Even though racism remains, society is changing where racists are confronted and not innocent people because of their skin colour.

The Day I Became An Aunty Auntie

In 2018 there came an unexpected time where I was filled with many mixed emotions, as my older sister Tori revealed to my younger sister and I that she was 5 weeks pregnant and I would be an auntie. My face lit up instantly and my jaw dropped to the ground, I couldn’t believe what I just heard. I was so surprised, in shock, and happy all at the same time and I genuinely didn’t know how to feel for a while after that. It was honestly the best news I’ve ever gotten.

Every single weekend after that day, we would either go visit my sister or she would come and see us. Every time she or I walked in the door the first thing I would look at after giving her a massive hug was her baby bump (stomach). Because every time we saw her it would be just a little bit bigger than the last time, and I loved putting my hands on it too, you could feel the little baby inside kicking and moving around, and it always made me smile knowing that that was my little niece or nephew. Since day one, everyone in my family hoped for a boy and we all had our fingers crossed but in the end we didn’t mind as long as he or she was healthy, a few months after that we found out it was a GIRL! We ended up being relieved as no one in my family had actually looked after and knew how to look after a boy before and it would’ve been slightly more challenging.

It was March 1st 2019 and my sister was finally having the baby. After what felt like hours, the time had finally come. As I stepped into the room, all I remember was observing this tiny, perfect, delicate little baby. All snuggled in her blanket, no crying, eyes were closed, sleeping soundly as her body rose and fell with every breath. When I held her for the very first time, my heart sank to the ground and I remember thinking, how much this baby is going to change my life. From this day forward, I gained the title Aunty, and it has changed my world. Her name was Mia Melissa Bizray, Melissa coming from my mum’s first name.

Too this day Mia is walking non-stop, and starting to talk, eating normal food, and also walking to the food cupboards while no one is looking, grabbing food and emptying them out everywhere all over the house, as well as pots and pans. Let’s just say, she is a very cheeky little girl. She had her first birthday earlier this year March 1st, and she was probably the happiest I’ve ever seen her. Since she was a few months old she’s always had this thing for loving to look in the mirror at her own reflection.

Surprisingly, my niece has taught me so much about life. She teaches me how to be a kid again and how precious it really is. I get to be carefree, happy, silly, and crazy. I get to enjoy doing kid things again like building blanket forts, swinging at the park, colouring, building sandcastles, collecting rocks. I’m so blessed to have such an amazing niece and to be an auntie.

Dear Diary,

My name is Alexander T Wolf. I am writing this diary entry from my prison cell. I have been arrested. The following entry will only be the truth, nothing but the whole truth. Mum, if you see this… I am sorry.

It was the 17th of February, a very special day. It was my grandmothers Wolfs 78th Wolfday. I had not visited her recently so I decided to make her a lovely cake and give her a big kiss. I looked in my pantry and realised I had NOTHING. That is ok though; there is a local market just down the trail. I set of with my moneybag and began the long trail hike to the market. By the time I got there, it was already noon; I went through all of the stalls and got what I needed. Milk, flour, eggs and strawberries. I also decided to pop into my local doctors. I had this annoying sneeze that I just couldn’t get rid of. While I was waiting, I saw my good old friend, Fredrick the frog. He was dressed in a nice navy blue suit with very fancy leather shoes. He was carrying a HUGE pile of papers. I decided to go give him a hand.

And at this moment the story begins…

I was just about to grab a pile of papers when, ahh choo! I sneezed. the massive pile of papers went all over the doctors clinic. He was furious with me. All I wanted to do was get some medicine for my sneeze. I had had enough. I got all of my stuff and left. Back down the trail, all the way home. It was time to get my mind off things, so I got all of my ingredients and placed them on the table. I opened up the recipe book and began throwing things into the bowl, just as I was about to put it into the stone oven, I realised that I didn’t have sugar. I thought to myself. Maybe my neighbours could help me, the three little pigs. They lived just down the track.

I ventured out into the wild, on the hunt for some sugar. I approached the first pig’s house; it was made up of straw. What a silly house I thought. I knocked on the door but nobody answered. I called out for the little pig. No answer. Just as I was about to go to the next pigs house I had this tickle in my nose, oh no I thought. Ahh choo! I sneezed everywhere and completely blew his house over. The pig was just lying there motionless. It had been a big day and I was super hungry. There is no point leaving a perfectly good lunch just sitting there. Therefore, I gobbled him up. I then moved on to the next house, it was a house made up of sticks. Not the greatest of houses but an improvement from the previous pig’s house. Again, I called out for the pig, this time there was an answer. It was a yell, he told me to get lost. This really hurt me, I was about to reply to him, about to ask just for a cup of sugar. But no, my sneeze was back. Ahh choo! This was an even bigger sneeze, the house went flying. Mr little pig was upside down in his fireplace. Yet again, the nice man I was wouldn’t want to leave a perfectly good meal on the floor. Therefore, I disposed of him, In my belly. Onto the next house, lets hope I could actually ask for some sugar.

The final house was just over the hill, I was really full and my stomach had tripled in size. I could barely walk. I was about to knock on the door when I saw a flash in the corner of my eye and couple of red and blue lights in the distance. I thought nothing of it at the time. The final house was a big brick made mansion, for the final time I knocked 3 times. Mr pig yell out and told me to go away, you could hear the sadness in his voice. Ahh choo! I sneezed. Nothing happened. The house still stood there. I turned around and was faced by 17 police officers. They said, “Mr Wolf you are under arrest for the murder of Mr pig and Mr little pig, you have the right to remain silent, anything you say will be used against you in the court of law. That’s it. I reluctantly got into the back of the car. Empty cup in my hand. The car started and drive. It felt like an eternity.

My grandmother will not get her cake, or anything in fact. Not even a kiss on the cheek. I started to sob in the back of the car and didn’t stop until I got to the naughty animal detention centre.

In addition, that is the full story. I didn’t murder anyone, I just was super hungry and needed some lunch. Mum I hope you get this and pass it on to grandmother. Tell her I am super sorry.

Dear Diary,

I am just flabbergasted, you would not believe the day that I have had. It was just excruciating. First of all, the postman dropped my package and all of my rare coke bottles. I said to myself, he will feel my wrath. So I tracked down his children and decided to brutally murder them with my bare hands. Before you think - Oh no, he’s a monster. He should die – You should know how much those bottles cost. $20,000. I had to sell my car to buy the 1980’s set.

I’m getting off track, let me get back to the story. So I walked around and I then found them in the forest. They had gone and built their own houses. I thought to myself that they would be better off if they had bought a house or rented. But then I had realized that they were going to die. So I walked up and decided that I would take out the straw house. Looked easy enough.

I walked up and said “little pig, little pig, come out of your house.” Then they said something but I didn’t care. So I huffed and I puffed and I blew the house down. Who knew that quitting smoking would make me better? The kid ran away so followed him on my scooter. NEVER BUY A SCOOTER OFF GUMTREE. The wheels are already stuffed. Then I got a text from Telstra saying to stay at home and wash your hands. I then replied and said “what do you know?”

The next house was made of sticks. They should be worried about termites but then they’re going to die. So I went to the door. I knocked. I then screamed: “little pig, little pig, come out of your house.” Again I didn’t listen.  They said something about hair. Like I want to hear about your bodily hair? I then blew the house and I got a splinter in my ear. It was pain no man has ever felt before. I then ran after them to a house made out of bricks, finally a smart pig.

As I walked thoughts filled my brain helmet – In 2% milk, what is the other 98% and should I buy the Mario super cart game, I know I haven’t finished the first one but it looks so good. I then walked to the house. Knocked on the door. At this point I was being a bit lazy and repeated what I had said at the last two homes. Again with the hair talk. I was teased enough in school for my chronic baldness, I didn’t need that negativity at that moment. Seriously, they’re not supposed to be in the same house as one another yet they get to lecture on body hair. I got ready to huff and puff and then tried to blow down the brick house.

It didn’t work. I then had an idea that brought me back to my architect days. I decided to take them out through the chimney. I climbed and climbed until I reached the top. I felt so strong and then I got stung by a bee and cried for minute and 28 seconds. Only a man can cry that long. I then went down the chimney like Santa on Lite n’ Easy. I slid down the chimney faster and faster until I landed in some water. I screamed and realized that I was in a hot pot of Ribena. I could feel my skin boiling every second I was in that pot of evil. I ran out the door and didn’t stop running. Then I stopped at the hospital.

As write this now I am getting surgery to replace the skin on my legs with skin from my back. The doctor’s recon I won’t be able to walk anymore because I burned the muscles in my legs. In the future I will call a building surveyor and I will get the building condemned so they get evicted. They will die on the cold messy streets of life. Also, I must get my significant other drop off my Medicare card so I can get of this dump. The police are asking about what happened and I can’t tell them the truth. The only good thing that came out of this was that I now know how bad the effects of smoking are. I am glad I stopped.
