A reminder for parents about the importance of students bringing water bottles to school as the bubble taps are out of action due to Covid 19 restrictions..
We still have lots of kids looking for water bottles and we do not spare bottles on site.
As you are most likely aware, camps were suspended for term 2 due to COVID 19. From term 3 we have been given the green light, however the details for organisation, logistics and running are yet to be finalised by the education department making planning very difficult. I have kept the tentative dates in place and have begun some initial planning with the students. We are hoping to be able to release the final plan to families early next term. I apologise for the delay as many students are looking forward to heading to the snow etc. Take care!

Just a reminder what great lesson the students take part in!
To finish off remote learning on the 5th of June, the year 9 non-binary /girls participated in a fun, engaging and informative Day run by the Ride2School Program.
The program was fully online and was broken up into 4 sessions:
1. PEDAL: Pedal ambassador, Ang Roan, from Good Wheel Hunting shared her story about how bike riding has changed her life. Ang travelled by bike 768 km from Adelaide to Melbourne. The aim was to support the end of homophobia in sport, expressing that no one should be excluded from sport by the way they look, or their gender. Through interactive online activities Ang showed the girls exactly where to begin if they want to start riding.
Ang’s advice to all Year 9 girls was to ‘accept everyone for who they are, because we would hate to be excluded for who we are’
PEDAL: Jess and Emma from the Ride2School team worked with the girls to explore some of the reasons that may prevent them being active. The girls had a chance to analyse a map of Castlemaine to identify some different route options in which they can actively commute to school. During this session, the girls also learnt some how to fit a helmet correctly, some basic bike checks in addition to learning some road rules and discussing how to be a respectful road user.
2. MIND
Mind
A team of youth workers from Project Rockit chatted to the group about issues such as self-esteem, your inner critic and peer pressure. This session also
challenged social norms and helped to educate the girls about the importance of self-care.
4. BODY: The day was completed in a beautifully relaxing way. Julie, a qualified yoga instructor, showed just how important moving our body is. The group will chatted about mindfulness and were then taken through a series of breathing and stretching exercises via an online platform.
The Wellbeing team enjoyed the day just as much as the students!
Thank you Ride2School Program!
