RETURN TO SCHOOL INFORMATION

RETURN ALL BOOKS, COMPUTERS AND OTHER ITEMS TAKEN HOME

We have a few Chromebook charging units still to be returned to school. Please send these back on Monday.

DRINK BOTTLES

We have been advised by the department that the bubble taps cannot be used for drinking purposes until further notice. Could all children please bring their own drink bottle to school for the remainder of this term.

WASH BAGS

Last term our junior school parents did a fantastic job sending their children to school with their own small wash bag containing soap and a towelette or face cloth. We are implementing a strict hygiene regime for all students where by they will be expected to wash and sanitize their hands regularly throughout the school day.

We know the older children may not find wash bags all that 'cool' but it is the safest and easiest way to minimize potential COVID 19 spread at school. We strongly encourage every child to continue to manage their own personal hygiene by bringing a personal wash bag to school every day.

STAGGERED START AND FINISH TIMES

Where there is any risk of congregation at school entry and exit points, schools must introduce staggered drop-off and pick-up times. Parents must enter the school grounds only when essential.

By the 9th June, in the afternoon we will be dismissing approximately 60 children at each 10 minute intervals using the staggered dismissal times below. Please be on time to collect your child and depart before the next group arrives. This way we can maintain social distancing of adults and sufficient parking for incoming parents.

  • Students with surnames A - F will be released from class at 3 pm
  • Students with surnames G -O will be released from class at 3:10 pm
  • Students with surnames P -W will be released from class at 3:20 pm
  • Bus travellers and after school program participants will be released from class at 3:20 pm and supervised as per the Duty Roster

P- 2 parents are encouraged to collect their child/ children from one of the school gates.

3-6 parents are encouraged to meet their child/ children at an agreed location (eg the Western side of the Urquhart St school crossing or the Southern side of the Barker St school crossing).

MORNING DROP OFF

As the arrival of students in the morning occurs over a period of time, no change to current practices is required.

ENHANCED CLEANING

Enhanced cleaning in schools will be implemented for the remainder of Term 2 and for Term 3. This will provide progressive cleaning of high-touch points and other surfaces throughout the day.

PHYSICAL DISTANCING AND HYGIENE

Even as we return to school, it remains important that physical distancing for adults and strict hygiene measures continue to be observed. All children will be expected to wash their hands regularly through the day. Please reiterate with your child the importance of good hand washing practices and encourage them to wash their hands when asked by teachers. The following provides a summary of the key advice:

  • Adjustments should be made to teaching and learning environments, including maintaining distance of 1.5 metres between adults where possible, maximising air flow, using outdoor spaces and staggering break times.
  • Attendance on school sites by non-essential visitors and parents should be limited.
  • Hygiene requirements including handwashing should continue to be practiced.
  • Any member of staff or student who is unwell must not attend school on-site.

UNWELL?

If your child is unwell, or you are unwell please do not come on-site until you have clearance. We need to keep our service running. This means we everyone to remain vigilant. If your child becomes unwell, we will call you to arrange pick up as soon as possible.

VISITS TO THE SCHOOL

If you have to come on-site, please follow social distancing rules. Visits should be to the Office area only. General school grounds and classrooms are out-of-bounds, unless prior arrangement has been made.
