Stress Down Day

On Friday 24th July 2020, Girton Grammar participated in Stress Down Day, the national day dedicated to reducing stress and educating people about stress and its harmful effects. With COVID restrictions in place, the day was filled with fun and laughter, connecting and kindness, and reminders to de-stress.

The day was promoted during the week with a digital presentation about stress, featuring one of our year 12 students Kody Austin; thank you, Kody.

Make sure you check out the clip, which can be found here.

Morning Mindfulness Meditation in 65 Wattle

A 10 minute Mindfulness session was led by one of our provisional Psychologists, Rachel Stewart, the beautifully relaxing session was followed up by a warm cup of Green Tea, known for its anti-anxiety properties.

Morning Recess: Milo, Massage and Masks

Steaming hot Milos on this cold winters day was welcomed by many of our students. Some sipped happily chatting amongst their friends in the sun, whilst others enjoyed a relaxing shoulder massage undertaken by their colleagues. Thank you massagers!

Lunchtime Music Bingo, Yoga with Ms Dempster, and much more

Music bingo brought the PA courtyard alive with the sounds of music.  After winners were awarded relaxing gifts, we all returned to Period 5 feeling a whole lot happier and relaxed.

Giant Mandala Colouring in

The giant mandala colouring in has been proven to soothe and relax people during times of stress.

Yoga with Ms Dempster

Just a simple 10 minute session can rest your mind and bring you back to feeling like yourself.

Shred away your worries

In times of stress, thoughts can sometimes become unhelpful and distressing - time to banish that thought to the shredder!

Students were encouraged to write down an unhelpful thought and shred it away!

Gratitude Station

Research has proven that to practise gratitude daily makes us happier. However, more importantly, using gratitude when we feel stressed to flip worries on their head is a most useful strategy to master.

We encouraged everyone to thank someone that they are grateful for, by writing a little note.
