From the Deputy Principal/Head of Senior School

Mr Paul Brooks

This week we were fortunate to be able to hold smaller Year Group Assemblies in the Brother Luke Hall to recognise students in the Senior School for their outstanding academic achievements along with awards recognising outstanding character. Unfortunately, present restrictions prevent us from having parents and carers physically at these award ceremonies, nonetheless, it was important for the College to publicly recognise the tremendous efforts and contribution of students through these very significant occasions.

Academic Awards

Congratulations to each student who received one or more awards for their academic achievements throughout Semester One. Thank you for making the commitment and for your dedication to your learning and academic endeavours. It was particularly pleasing to note that for some students, this was their first academic award and that they have been inspired by the fruits of their labour to strive for even greater success in the future! Whilst not all students walked across the stage to receive an award, it is important that all students make a concerted effort at all times to strive for improvement and their personal best and to aspire to great heights.

Champagnat Awards

Congratulations to the five students from each year group in the Senior School who were recognised and presented with their awards for demonstrating outstanding character, especially through the display of strong minds and gentle hearts. In particular, I extend my congratulations to the Champagnat Award winner from each year group.

Trial HSC Examinations

Best wishes to all of our Year 12 students who commence their Trial HSC examinations on Monday 17 August. These examinations form a significant component of the internal assessment mark for each course and provide students with the opportunity to experience an examination which has the same duration as the HSC examinations which students will sit later in the year.

Staff Days

A reminder to parents and carers that the College is holding two staff days on Friday 21 August and Monday 24 August and that these days are pupil-free days across the entire K-12 campus. Further details about the professional learning activities that engaged the staff on these days will be provided in the next Newsletter.
