ART ROOM NEWS

Well here we are in #Lockdown 2. Who would have thought?? Remote Learning is back on the books (pardon the pun) and we are all adjusting again to doing things differently. When students returned to school after the last Lockdown they brought artworks that they had worked on at home to school. The tasks set were very much open ended, and it was a real pleasure to see what students had created. Stay tuned for a virtual exhibition of these artworks in coming weeks.

This time around, Art Tasks will be more structured. Students will be assigned their tasks on Friday mornings along with all Specialist Activities. Students are asked to post their work on Seesaw. If you have any questions at all please don’t hesitate to email me: acooper@stjamesbrighton.catholic.edu.au

It’s a good time right now to reflect on why Art matters.

Some of the reasons are: it communicates in ways that words can’t; brings people together; tells stories both real and imagined; provides a creative outlet; is therapeutic; provides social commentary on the present and the past; helps us understand ourselves; communicates our innermost thoughts and dreams; inspires, informs and persuades others to make the world a better place and is part of our everyday lives in more ways than we can imagine.

Happy art making! Here’s a couple of jokes to keep you going.

Once I tried to paint the sky ….. but I blue it!

I know everyone loves Art but I’m really drawn to it…2B or not 2B, that is the pencil!

I was going to make a joke about a broken pencil… but it’s pointless!

Boom boom.

Stay calm, stay safe, stay well.
