Kids Care pack from Smiling Minds

Remote Learning 2.0. Here we are again,  we have all had our own experiences and challenges with remote learning and lockdown number 1.0. It is easy to think we know now what we are doing, we have our passwords and codes we know the routine. However, this time is not easier by any means. There is a whole set of new challenges for parents and students.

There is a plethora of information available at your fingertips to assist you in yours and your children's wellbeing at times like these. We have all heard by now that self care is incredibly important but are we actually taking care of ourselves? I came across this kids care pack from smiling minds which I thought was worth sharing. There are 3 topics to choose from and parents can work through the modules at your convenience. They are also age group specific.

On-line Gaming

Often parents share with me concerns they have about their child’s use of online gaming. Concerns range from the safety of games, addiction to health and behavioural changes. Over the coming weeks, I will include in the school newsletter some strategies for you to use that may help you and your child be in a win/win situation with online gaming.

Apart from the eSafety site, https://www.esafety.gov.au/, being an excellent place to find information about all things relating to online gaming, can I recommend the site, https://www.commonsensemedia.org/,  as another place to find out about the

content of games, their strengths and weaknesses, age appropriateness and reviews by parents.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

St James Feast Day

On Saturday the 25th of July we celebrated the Feast of St James the Great. Throughout the week the students engaged in prayer and Liturgy, and activities to strengthen their knowledge and understanding of who St James was and how we can learn from his life to be followers of God just like he was.

On Friday a short video will be posted to the Parent Landing page celebrating the beautiful work that the students completed. I hope you all take a moment to celebrate the amazing work the students at St James are doing during Remote Learning.
