FRENCH CHAMPIONS!

By Daniel Dema (French Teacher)

We are very proud of the fantastic results for our French students in the Education Perfect Languages Championship 2023! Our school finished the competition 1st in Victoria, with Joel H (Year 11), Annalise M (Year 10) and Bailey H (Year 10) our top competitors.

Moreover, Joel Humbert came first for French in the WORLD for the second time in a row. It was an amazing effort from all participants in our school. Well done everyone!

PRIMARY STUDENTS CLEAN IT UP!

By James Mathews (Enviromental Teacher)

Last Tuesday, the whole of Primary School took part in 'Clean Up Australia Day'.

This is a day when organisations, schools and various community groups all take part in cleaning rubbish from their local areas all around Australia. The Primary School focused it's time on picking up rubbish around the school playgrounds making sure that no stone was left unturned.

The teachers briefed the students on the responsibility of the school to protect the wildlife around our schools and in our oceans from habitat degradation. They also discussed how God has made a beautiful world and that He gives us the responsibility to take care of it.

So with this in mind the students headed out armed with gloved hands and rubbish bags and trolled the school for any rubbish they could find, separating it for general waste and recyclables. However there wasn't a whole lot of rubbish to be found in our beautiful school, so the rubbish pickup became a 'treasure hunt' activity. As I visited each class in their allocated areas I heard many students excitedly yelling out 'I've found one', holding the prized rubbish above their heads.

This was a brilliant event where students could learn about stewardship and develop a greater sense of pride for the place they learn and play at each day.

SETTING SAIL: YEAR 9 PROGRAM

By Ben White ( Year 9 Program Co-ordinator)

It’s been a big few weeks in the Year 9 Program as we have made our way to St Kilda and Albert Park for Stand Up Paddle Boarding and Sailing in the bay and on the lake. Perfect weather, great conditions and a legendary bunch of students. The theme of Term 1 is "challenge" and these two weeks on the water have presented some moments for students to step out of their comfort zones and break through fears for the first time. Whilst others have thrived on the opportunity to step up in leadership roles, set the example and help their peers.

It’s so exciting to see and the team is filled with anticipation for what's to come in the Year 9 Program for 2023.
