Annual Report 2022 – Horsham College success!

At the March Council meeting I presented the data from the 2022 Annual Report. The full Report with commentary will be presented to the College Council and Community at our May meeting.

Key data sets from the Report are provided below and show Horsham College against like schools (purple) and State (Grey).

The Report highlights the success of the College and shows our targeted improvement strategy and overall college processes are working.  This Report is an absolute credit to the hard work and commitment of our staff and the strong relationship that exists between students, families and staff.

The College Council should be particularly proud of the work it has overseen and the support and governance it has provided to school leadership.

Buildings and Planned Works

We are in the final stages of completing the refurbishment works in the old Technology building and completing works in our systems shed.

Our Music department has begun the process of moving into its permanent home and we have refurbished Textiles and added to Art rooms as a further investment in the Arts and Technology.

Works have also begun to manage the refurbishment of the Library into a wellbeing student support centre, and to provide two further classrooms for use.

All works have been funded using the College’s own local funding without State or Federal Government grants, and have seen local tradespeople and businesses used.

Our Library will move into one of the open spaces in our M Block and will symbolically place reading and literacy at the heart of the College.

We should also have the Year 8 basketball/down ball areas completed in the coming weeks as we continue to invest in student facilities.  The newly elected SRC executive will meet next week to discuss the process for determining the location of seating for students, and to develop a masterplan for student facilities throughout the College.

Acting Principal – Ms Woolford whilst Mr Pyers is on leave

From 27th March to 12th May I will be taking some long service leave.

I am very happy to confirm that Meg Woolford will be the Acting Principal, supported by the Principal Class team of Shannon Argall, Louise Amor, Melissa Twaddell and Liam Offer, along with our School Improvement/Leadership Team.

I would therefore like to wish everyone a very safe and happy Easter in advance, and I look forward to seeing everyone when I return.
