There are always new discoveries being made in the science room with Miss Wood. This week I spent some time there with 6M. When I arrived they had just finished making oobleck and were about to go outside to test it's properties by dropping marbles into it from different heights/distances. The findings were quite insightful with students confirming that even though the oobleck substance was a liquid, when the marble made contact with it with force it acted like a solid.

This week our Year 5 and Year 3 students have been undertaking the NAPLAN (National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy) assessments. Students in all schools sit these same assessments and they provide an opportunity to check in on student learning progress. Reading, Writing, Conventions of Language and Numeracy are included as part of the NAPLAN assessments. When results are made available later this year, this will be shared with the families of students who participated. I would like to congratulate our students for completing these assessments. I know that they have shown commitment and focus to give their very best. I also know that our staff implement comprehensive literacy and numeracy programs for all students and support students to feel prepared and confident to sit the NAPLAN assessments.

Next week we have school tours beginning for families looking to enrol for Foundation in 2024. I love having the opportunity to showcase our school to prospective families. The dates for our tours are included later in this newsletter. Please share this information with anyone who might be interested in coming along to our tours.
