Sports Day

Our annual Sports Day took place on Friday, 31 March. It was fantastic to see our students having a go, cheering each other on and enjoying themselves. We thank all the parents who attended on the day.

We had some very tough competition during the day and all teams showed great sportsmanship, however, in the end, the winners of our two trophies were:

Collaboration Trophy

The Collaboration trophy is awarded to the team who demonstrated the school values and collaborative sportsmanship throughout the day.  The winning team this year was Highland.

Overall Winner Trophy

The overall winners displayed great competition skills and although the points were up and down throughout the day, the overall winner was Petworth with a convincing 184 points.

Only 1 point separated the remaining teams! In 2nd place, we had Aurora with 173 points, 3rd Place went to Highland with 172 points and 4th place to Jacaranda with 171.

We would like to thank our staff for their amazing energy and organisation on the day. Special thanks to Kylie Robinson and the Sports Day committee for organising and managing the day. We would also like to thank Craig and the team at L J Hooker, Greenwith/Mawson Lakes for providing a coffee service and donating all proceeds back to the school. MH Critchley & Associates also donated $150 to bring the total donation to $1000. We are also grateful to have received a $100 donation from the ice cream van on the day. Thank you for supporting these local businesses

SAPSASA Lacrosse Carnival

In week 6 we took 12 teams to the SAPSASA lacrosse carnival. Our students had a fabulous day putting into practice the skills they had learned during the Sporting Schools clinics. Our year 6 boys teams and our year 4/5 girls' teams placed 1st and 2nd.

Thank you to our staff Brayden Martin, Geoff Smith and Angus Green and our volunteer parents Renee Mobbs, Donna Frunks, Rickki-Lee Snoad, Hayley Pendleton, Natalie Polvari, Lisa Matthews, Rachel Hartwell, and Amanda Klose for your support with coaching teams.

On the 9th of March, we participated in the 2023 Lacrosse Carnival at the North Adelaide Lacrosse Club. Students in years 4, 5 and 6 could participate and were put into groups each with a teacher or parent volunteer. In our groups, we had to play lacrosse games against other schools. We felt really happy and excited, especially when we were playing in the finals. We learnt more about lacrosse and some different skills while playing against other schools.  I think Greenwith did a really good job and two of our teams came first, and I think that it was a big achievement.

I’d like to thank all the teachers and the parent volunteers that came to the lacrosse carnival. They cheered us on and gave us some good tips. I’d also like to thank the lacrosse coaches that came to our school to teach us lacrosse. It was a really fun day, and I am looking forward to playing lacrosse again sometime soon.

SAPSASA Swimming Carnival

On Friday of week 5, our swimming team competed at the SAPSASA swimming carnival at Waterworld.

Students in years 4, 5 and 6 had the opportunity to try out and a bunch of kids were selected to be in the team this year. I was very excited as this was my second time going and it was lots of fun the first year.

All the people that participated did amazing and we ended up winning the overall award for our division. I would like to thank Mrs Robinson for organizing for us to go to this SAPSASA event as it was a lot of fun. And thank you to our parent volunteers Mark Eriksson and Renee Hobbs for your support.

SAPSASA Boys Cricket

On Monday of week 10, the SAPSASA boys' cricket team played a game against Mawson Lakes Primary School in a knockout style. It was a nice day to bat first, but Mawson Lakes won the bat flip and they decided to bowl first. We got off to a good start and we didn’t lose any quick wickets in the first few overs of the game. We finished batting on 2/72, but then unfortunately Mawson Lakes passed our score and won the match when we were fielding.

We would like to thank Mr Smith and Brayden for coaching us. It wouldn't have been possible to play the match without all your hard work coaching us and organising the match. We would also like to thank the parents that came along to watch our game.
