                          Grade 5/6 News

 

In Week 5, Gr 5 and 6 students have been learning more about comparing books and other ways to transfer information via Text-to-text, Text-to-self, Text-to-World and Text-to-Media. They have been focusing on using connectives in their persuasive writing. Gr 5 /6 students have been studying decimals and fractions in Numeracy. On Friday, the 3rd March, the Gr 5 /6 students led the Mass with Fr Minh, which focused on the World Day of Prayer. They were a credit to themselves in conducting themselves during the Mass—well done.

 

The Gr 5 and 6 students in Week 6 concluded their RE unit on Living as Disciples by having a prayer service at the start of the day by reading out their mini-posters, a beatitude they had chosen and made the previous day. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

On Thursday, they wrote a Narrative with the title Three Wishes. They have also completed some practise on language conventions (spelling, punctuation and grammar) and are brushing up their typing ability. Gr 5 and 6 students have also been working on setting learning goals for the semester.

 

During Cross Curriculum, the Gr 5 / 6 students have been busy learning about Antarctica and the Antarctic Treaty within the theme of Belonging and how Australia is a diverse country that works with other nations to keep this place unique.

 

On Friday, the students showed their responsibility and reliability by carefully collecting rubbish around the school. We ended up with one and a half small bags full of rubbish.
