Theatre Students Hit the City
Last week, students from Years 10-12 Theatre Studies got to explore many staging concepts with a trip to "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child". Apart from seeing the performance, the students were part of a Q&A session with cast and creatives from the production. The study will lead to completing a written assessment task and for the Year 12s, provide a performance for them to write about in their end of year exam.
Prior to this show, the Year 11 and 12 Theatre Studies students were treated to some insight in preparing for their all-important end of year Monologue Exam. Top Class Theatre Studies is a representative sample of works that achieved outstanding scores in the 2022 Monologue Examination. It gives students valuable insight into what is required to achieve excellence in their study and, hopefully, inspires them to tap into their own creativity.
College Choirs Performances for Harmony Day
On Monday 20 March, Aitken College’s Choirs completed their first performances for the year to celebrate Harmony Week.
Our junior choir, Songsters, performed the classic “I’ll Be There For You”, which you will recognize from the show Friends, during the Fairview and Cumberland Chapels. They sang with enthusiasm and professionalism as they introduced Songsters to the College for 2023.
Our middle years choir, Aitken Voices, performed the all-inclusive “We Are Family” during the Dunhelen Chapel. They brought a huge amount of energy in their growing numbers.
Our senior choir, Vox Pop, performed the feel good “Oh Happy Day” during the Brookhill Chapel. They showcased their astounding vocal talents as new members of the choir were introduced to the College.
Each of these choirs will perform at the College’s Easter Services on the last Monday of the term.
