Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that. - Martin Luther King, Jr.

Harmony Week

This week we have celebrated Harmony Week in which we as a community have been able to celebrate the rich cultural heritage we have in our staff, students and families. Australia has been enriched by decades of migration and refugees, particularly since World War Two.

Internationally, 21 March is recognised as the “International Day for the elimination of Racial Discrimination”, which we have renamed in Australia as “Harmony Day”. It’s aim is to promote inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone, regardless of cultural or linguistic background. We are invited to wear orange to signify social communication and meaningful conversations.

Australia is a vibrant and multicultural country – from the oldest continuous culture of our fisrt Australians to the cultures of our newest arrivals which includes every country (300+) from across the world. An integrated mulitcultural Australia is one of our greatest strengths and is at the heart of who we are as a nation.
