Classroom News

PREP GRADE

This week in Prep we are continuing to learn new and exciting topics as well and practise all the routines of being at school.

In maths we have finished our pattern unit. To celebrate the end of our topic we spent some time making patterns by finger painting! The students loved squishing their fingers in the paint to copy, continue and create one,one and two,two patterns.

In literacy we are continuing to learn and spell new words. The Preps are getting better and better at sounding our words with their phoneme fist.

We are continuing to make new friends and we are getting to know all the people in our classrooms and it is lovely to see the students mixing in with each other out in the yard and when we get the toys out in the classroom.

We wish all our Prep families a happy long weekend and look forward to another great week next week!

GRADE 1/2

We continue to be so impressed by our hard-working students in Year 1 and 2! Both year levels will continue their work on place value and number lines during our mathematics sessions and our writing focus will still be on writing narrative stories.

In Year 2 we are looking at interesting ways to open a sentence. If you get a chance, have a look in some books at home to see if you can find any sentences that open with dialogue, a sound or a description!

We loved seeing so many friends and family members at school on Friday afternoon during our open classrooms. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did. It was a busy afternoon in the Year 2 classroom because we were running our 'clubs' session. Many parents enjoyed looking at the different clubs and going forward, we would love to encourage parents to come along and work with a small group. If this is something that you are interested in, please make contact with Matt or Emma via Class Dojo. You do not need any special 'talents' to be involved. The teachers will organise the activities and you can just come along and offer help where necessary.

Year 1 students are still looking for students to send in their childhood photos for their inquiry unit. Year 2 students will need a list of family names sent in to school as soon as possible so they can create their family trees.

There is still a small number of Year 2 students who have not sent a pair of headphones to school. Please let us know if you need any assistance with this.

We have noticed a large number of toys and dolls coming to school lately. We kindly ask that these are to be left at home.

We have also noticed a lot of school jumpers and drink bottles at school with no names on them. The mornings have been very cold and we notice that after the first break, many students take off their jumpers. These are then often found laying in the corridor and we cannot return them if they have no names on them.

GRADE 3/4

Can you believe we are more than half way through the term already?

In RE this term, our topic is GROWTH. Why not have a chat with your child about the growth you have noticed in them so far this year?

Each child across Grades 3 and 4 has their own unique counting goals to work on at home. When your child feels ready, they can speak to their teacher to demonstrate the skill they have learnt.

Grade 3 Camp Kangaroobie and Grade 4 Anglesea Camp notes have gone home. Please complete PAM permissions as soon as possible so that we can get numbers to the camp staff, and return the medical information form to your classroom teacher. We really look forward to this time of team-building fun.
