Toni Palmer Memorial Shield
On Wednesday 28th June the Toni Palmer Memorial Shield was held in Inverell. This event pays tribute to Holy Trinity teacher Ms Toni Palmer who sadly passed away in 2021. Her contribution to sport, in particular Rugby League, was huge. Charlie Templeton, Lachlan Grob, Fletcher Barratt, Ryder Swift and Collie Cooper attended the event and joined with some other students in other schools to make up a team called ‘Palmer’s Players’. The boys had a great day.
Athletics
We held our 1500 m Time Trial along with High Jump at school. We have had some outstanding results. Paige Floyd jumped 1.22 m for the 12 years girls and Fletcher Barratt managed to jump 1.30 m! Apparently it is as high as his eyebrows! Mr McManus even managed to demonstrate his jumping ability and made it over the bar. According to Mrs McManus, Mr McManus was quite the athlete in his youth. He has been recorded jumping 1.70 m in high jump! I wonder if that’s as high as his eyebrows?
Any students who have missed High Jump due to absence, will be caught up before the Athletics Carnival.
During sport time, the students are practising their other field events in the lead up to the carnival. We encourage them to continue being active in the school holidays so they are fit and ready for our carnival on Friday the 28th July (Friday, Week 2).
On that note, have an enjoyable and safe 2 week break and we look forward to more sport next term.
