There are activities that you can do at home which are based on the book.  This site really has quality literature and the books are read by well-known Australians and not so well known

Remember to search for ACEN (Australian Catholic Education Network) when searching for schools. Children will then log into Armidale and then use their Chrome log in to enter the site. There are so many books to choose from. Books are automatically returned after 2 weeks. If you have an Ipad that the children can use, the Sora App can be downloaded.

Please make use of Storybox Library and Sora over the holidays. These are free to use and the best part is the books don't get lost. You can borrow them at any time.

Book Week

Book week falls between the 19th -25th of August and we are busy planning activities to celebrate the Shortlisted Books. One activity that you may like to plan for over the holidays is the Book Character Parade which will be held on Thursday 24th August at 10:45. Book Characters can be as simple as you like. It would be a good idea if your child had the book which the character came from to show in the Parade.

More to come early next term about the other activities.

Naidoc Week

Naidoc Week is next week and in the last part of this term we have been celebrating Aboriginal Literature in the library. We have the most beautiful books and children have been enjoying the stories, legends and illustrations.

Kinder, Stage 1 and Stage 2 have been illustrating their own pictures and Stage 1 even tried to use symbols to write a story.

Stage 3 are researching Aboriginal sportspeople and last week we learnt about the talented Johnny Mullagh who was part of the first Aboriginal Cricket team that toured England in the 1850s. The book Knockabout Cricket was a great read and we reflected on how hard it would have been for this Aboriginal team to travel at that time.

Year 3 and 4 read the books Mad Magpie and Silly Birds by Greg Dreisse and wrote about some of the lessons they learned.
