Principal's Report

Dear Parents, Families and Community members,

Principal Update

The end of another jam packed week and only one to go until we break for the Term 1 holidays. Cross country yesterday was a huge success and no doubt there were many weary legs at home Thursday night!

School council had their General meeting Thursday night (see further update and thank you below) where I was able to share the 2022 Annual Report with members. We knew there were many highlights and achievements last year, but a quick summary of progress towards our 4 year School Strategic Plan demonstrated just how much we have achieved! Despite being only 18 months into the SSP, we have already achieved or surpassed 10 out of 23 targets already. There are another 11 on track to achieving this year as well! Attendance is one target area the school will need to move its focus to in 2023. Overall though, it seems we may need to revisit some of our goals and set ourselves a bit more of a challenge!

Pupil Free Day

A reminder that Monday 24 April is a pupil free day. This is the first day of Term 2 prior to the Anza day public holiday on Tuesday 25th.  We look forward to seeing all students back on site from Wednesday 26 April for another term of great learning!

On this day our education staff will engage in more Professional Learning relating to our pedagogical practices and framework. With increasing staff numbers each year it is critical we continue to bring on board our new educators and also continually update the knowledge of exisiting staff.

Dr Jared Cooney Horvath, Educational Neuroscientist, will present to us on this day covering the basics of the 'Science of Learning'. Topics we will cover include; the foundations of thinking and learning, the learning trajectory and how memory and attention influence our learning.

Parent Forum

In the last newsletter you might have seen my update about our school-wide priorities for this year. The one overarching goal highlighted was "to promote and maintain an orderly and focused learning environment".

Following this a survey was sent out to gather information from our families.

Thank you to those who have completed it so far. It is so important we are representing the values and beliefs of our community. In reading the responses so far, it seems as though we have some fairly consistent expectations in terms of what ordely and focused should look like at school. This is together with a balanced understanding of the importance of supporting and explicitly teaching our children and providing options for individuals when they may need something a bit different.

I will close off the survey this weekend so if you have time, pop in and have your say!

PACC Hot Cross Bun Fundraiser - update

Thank you to everyone who purchased the yummy hot cross buns in our first fundraiser for the year.

A total of 263 packs were sold and funds raised of $496.63 will be going towards buying a school bus!

Our fantastic PACC labelled and sorted them all today and they came home with the eldest student in the family this afternoon.  Enjoy!

Whole School Assembly

Our final Whole School Assembly will be held at the earlier time of 10am on Thursday 6/4/2023 so that we can accommodate the Diversity Dash Colour Run.  Parents and carers are welcome to attend this assembly in the Games Hall where the end of term student awards will be presented.

Diversity Dash Colour Run - 6/4/2023

The Diversity Dash encourages students to get out and get active as part of a fun, social, colourful and inclusive event conducted within the school grounds. Students will be able to run, skip, dance or walk their way through a course that will be exploding with COLOUR!
