Preventing Meltdowns
Big emotions or meltdowns can be a result of your child's unmet needs, but how do we determine what those needs are? Sometimes the best way to help our children work through their big feelings is to help them learn about their needs BEFORE the meltdown occurs.
This adorable poster would look great hanging in your child’s bedroom or calming space.
Everyone Belongs
Everyone Belongs at Queen of Peace!
Take a walk around the school to see the wonderful orange posters that decorate our buildings and see the colourful flower display outside of the library.
We include, respect and celebrate all the many cultures at Queen of Peace! Did you also know that we have 37 nationalities at our school?
Junior School Council Meeting
On Wednesday 8th March our school leaders jumped on a bus and attended the Junior School Council meeting at the Council Chamber.
These meetings occur once every term and representatives from Q.O.P are invited to attend.
Along with many other primary schools, students pose a question or concern regarding Hobson's Bay.
It may be about traffic congestion, the condition of roads or the safety and cleanliness of facilities such as parks, public toilets or playgrounds.
The mayor attends and tries to respond or makes sure he speaks to someone in the council who may be able to help with the problem.
Gianna asked about the frequency of public toilets around Altona Meadows being cleaned. The mayor explained that the frequency has actually increased and more money has been put into keeping the toilets clean.
At the end of the meeting there is a guest speaker or speakers. Everyone has popcorn and fruit.
