 Clean Up Australia Day

What beautiful weather we had today for our annual 'Clean Up Australia' Day at Deborah Grove.  Thank you to all our families and friends who came along and joined us.

The Green Team were such great rubbish detectives finding lots of it everywhere.  Once they got back to the Centre, they looked at what was collected and decided that this rubbish should not have been in the 'wild'.  "Rubbish belongs in the bin!" the all agreed.

The Orange team really loved being able to show kindness by picking up rubbish for clean up Australia Day. It was a bit tricky putting on the gloves as fingers don't always go where you want them to go, but we got there. We enthusiastically waved our gloved hands in the air and cheered for a photo then got to work.  We found lots of rubbish. At one point we found a 'jackpot' where lots of bottle tops, batteries, containers, broken plastic, discarded potatoes, cardboard tubes etc were found. Some children used sticks to dig up the metal bottle tops that were stomped hard into the dirt. We even found a big cardboard box, which helped us carry our rubbish bags in.  We celebrated by reflecting on our contributions and added a leaf to our kindness tree in our orange team nest space in recognition of the kindness we portrayed.  Great work Orange team!
