Middle School

What an amazing, and busy, start to the year it has been for our Middle School! There has been much buzz around as we welcome new students into our community, as well as new staff. It has been pleasing to see settled classes and smiling children throughout the corridors.

A big congratulations to our Year 6 cohort who have managed their transition in the Middle School with confidence, resilience and a growth-mindset. They have taken on new challenges and processes with eagerness.

Our Year 7s were treated to their Retreat Day last week, enjoying the challenges of the Ninja Parc and extending their skills. The day allowed for them to work together as a team, as well as develop their individual sense of self.

The calm and settled nature of Year 8 students has allowed them to start the year on a positive note and show focus in their work. The students are helping support our environment by up-keeping our recycling program across the Middle and Senior Schools.

Year 9 students are eagerly anticipating their 3-day hike to Wilson’s Promontory this week which will enable them to step outside of their comfort zone, work together and achieve goals. Monday’s training allowed for them to practise setting up tents, cooking with Trangia stoves and practise carrying backpacks.

The House Swimming Carnival was a hit for all involved, with lots of enthusiasm, colour and frivolity in the air. Students put in their best efforts to represent their houses in various races, with the teachers race and continuous relay being a highlight.

Thank you to those that were able to attend the Middle School Information Night last week. It was pleasing to see so many in attendance. It was a great opportunity to meet with you and for our families to meet their child’s Homegroup teacher.

On behalf of Leigh Gridley (8 and 9 Year Level Leader) and myself (6 and 7 Year Level Leader) we are pleased to be heading up the Middle School and look forward to supporting our students in their wellbeing and endeavours throughout the year.
