Junior School Report

Heather McClure

Wow! It has been another busy fortnight in the Junior school.

Swimming sports saw an array of bright dress ups, with students supporting their house. Student participation was high, with many students ‘jumping’ into the pool to partake in numerous events.

Last week we saw our year 7 cohort head off to Angelsea for two nights. The camp was jam-packed with activities including surfing, kayaking and mountain bike riding. I was lucky enough to head down for the day on Tuesday and witness students building relationships, participating in activities they have never experienced and having a fabulous time.

On Friday our year 9s and 10s attended a leadership presentation from the Western Bulldogs. Students fully engaged in the presentation and were complemented on their participation and well considered questions.

It was great to meet the families of our new students on Tuesday evening when we hosted our ‘Welcome BBQ’. Although the day was grey, it was a lovely to share a meal and chat to everyone.

Reminders: Students are expected to be in full school uniform every day. If your child is unable to be in full school uniform we ask that you send a signed note with the reason they are out of uniform and expected timeframe of when they will be back in full uniform. Students are asked to present these notes to the Junior school office before school each day for a uniform pass.

If you are having difficulty purchasing uniform please reach out, we are here to help. We also have some clean spare uniform that can be loaned for short periods of time.

Please note: Uniform passes will not be given for hooded jumpers.

Being prepared for class: Our homegroup teachers have been discussing organization with our year 7 -9 studentsThis includes being prepared for learning, arriving on time for class with materials including school diary, pencil case and required books. Please discuss with your child whether their pencil case needs stocking up.  I have seen a few lockers that need a good tidy also. This will be our focus in coming weeks.

What’s ahead?

  • Next week is math’s week- keep an eye out for fabulous math’s activities
  • Student leadership badge ceremony (invitation to follow)
  • Labour day public holiday
  • NAPLAN
