Bulletin #2 – Senior School

Weeks 2, 3 & 4 have been jam packed full of events for our Years 10, 11 and 12 students.

For our year 12’s this included their final athletics day and swimming sports day ever, a day full of dress ups and fun events for all. It was lovely to see our seniors getting involved in all number of events regardless of their level of ability and particularly heart warming to see our seniors mentoring and encouraging our junior students, providing guidance and motivation to give events a go.

Our year 10’s are slowly adjusting into senior school life, with this comes added responsibility and higher expectations, our teachers are working closely with students and families to build the important behaviours and skills for each student to be successful over their final 3 years of schooling. We ask that families support us by ensuring your child attends school in full school uniform and with the correct learning materials to be successful in class.

On Thursday the 23rd of February we hosted our 7 Steps to Senior School Success information night, with many of our year 11 & 12 families attending to explore the cornerstones to their child’s success in VCE or VCE VM. We encourage all our families to continue to engage with their children each day about their learning, as those pillars of support are even more important in these challenging years of learning.

Over the next few weeks students in year 12 who may be eligible for special provision should enquire with Ms Brooks to gather necessary paperwork prior to VCAA’s application submission date at the end of this term.

Students will also begin later this term a series of careers & pathways sessions focused on key areas such as ATARS, Study Scores, University vs TAFE, UCAT, VTAC, Key Selection Criteria’s and much more offered by our Careers and Pathways Team. These sessions will run into Term 2, focusing on feedback based on what students have said they most want to know about.

Senior school teachers have begun their work reviewing and enhancing the way in which they administer formative assessment and feedback focusing on the students next steps and we know this will only build on the learning of each of our students in their classes.
