Easter School Fete Preparation Begins

Once again we will be hosting our annual School Easter Fete on the last day of Term 1, Thursday 6th of April.  All parents, friends and community members are welcome to this event.    The fete will begin at 10.00 am and conclude at 1:30 pm. There will be  a  catered BBQ, Baked potatoes followed by activities from each year level. Forms for the BBQ are being sent home shortly. Each year level is currently organising an activity for the day and once confirmed will be advertised.   It will be a casual clothes day.   If you are able to assist in  any way please contact Mr Lockhart or Robyn Vella to book a market site.

Eggnormous Easter Fete Mega Raffle

We are aiming to have an abundance of prizes for our Eggnormous Easter Fete Mega Raffle which will be drawn on the day of the Fete.  If you are able to donate eggs or chocolate, the Parents Association will make up prize bundles so everyone has a great chance to win. Eggs and chocolate donations can be left at the school front office. Raffle tickets have been sent home so please check for these.  Last year the drawing of the raffle topped off the many highlights of the day.   As a special incentive Mr Forrest will run a school day activity for the class who is able to donate the most prizes for the raffle.  When dropping off your donation let the Front Office know which class you are from.   Currently the staff are winning with 14 donated eggs.

SRC Badge Presentation Ceremony

It was great to be hosted by the Loddon Shire last week  in the council chambers at Wedderburn.  We appreciated the efforts by Renae Colls for liaising with the school to organise the event.  We would like to thanks the Mayor Dan Straub, Councillor Gavan Holt and Loddon CEO Lincoln Fitzgerald for talking to the students about council operations, how to conduct meetings, and their journeys in leadership.  Thanks to the large number of family and friends who were also able to attend. The students now have the badges so now they have to lead with dedication, distinction and work on behalf of the students who elected them.    The students will be having a meeting this week before coming together regularly to organise activities and events for everyone to enjoy.  Mr Fowles, Miss Van De Wetering, Miss Anderson and Miss Douglas will be assisting me with the SRC this year.

Building Works Up Date

As of yesterday we were able to sign off on stage 2 of our new building plan.   We will now move to the next phase of detail design before we can go to tender in approximately 6 months time, if everything goes well.   If all goes to plan we are aiming for construction in 2024.

Currently planning indicates that we will receive a new science facility and extra classroom, upgrades to food tech facilities, a modern senior Art-room renovation and classroom spaces.  A modernised  KLC, major landscaping, including several wheel chair ramps, a new secondary toilet block and more eating spaces for students.

We will hopefully be able to display the next building drawings for the school community later in Term 2.

It's great to have the old secondary toilets back in use and the stinky old portables and fencing removed from the end of block B.  It's amazing how much more open the area is with the old portables gone. This area will be the first to go under construction in the new build: secondary toilets & science).

Knee Operation Early

If you recall, I had major knee surgery in Term 3 on my right knee last year and I was booked into have another operation on my left knee in the upcoming school holidays,  however last week I was notified that it has been brought forward. I will be on medical leave from next Tuesday 14th of March, Week 7 of Term 1, for approximately two-three months following the surgery. Dean Lockhart  will be the Acting Principal in my absence and Leading Teacher Alexander Iser will step up to be the Acting Assistant Principal.  Hopefully my recovery goes well and I am able to return to work as planned.  I am very disappointed to be missing the Easter School Fete and many other  activities - I'm actually not looking forward to the forced rest!
