A Message from Our School Captains and Student Representative Council (SRC) President
Hello Pakenham Community and welcome to our first newsletter of the year.
We are excited to be your College Captains and SRC President for 2023.
A major aim this year is to continue to grow pride in our school. Every day students are involved in a wide range of events which our community can see through our social media platforms and screens across our school. Whether its camps, excursions, sports or music, theatre, or dance or clubs, this year will see a continuation of opportunities where students will be able to get involved enabling us to show, in a practical way, pride in our school. We aim to expand our student leadership team so more student ideas can be heard and acted on. We encourage everyone to get involved!
At school there are a couple of areas that we need to improve on. We need to continue to improve the look of our school environment. Although many of us do place our rubbish in bins, too many don't, as we can see the mess we leave after recess and lunchtime. We ask that you don't drop rubbish and place our rubbish in the bins. It should not be that hard as we have many bins inside classrooms and across all areas of the yard.
Unfortunately, we have had a number of students approach us and the Student Representative Council (SRC), about the state of our toilets. All of us need to be able to access toilet facilities, be able to wash and dry our hands or simply comb our hair. Although the vast majority of us use the toilets appropriately, a small number of students damage and vandalise our toilet blocks. This damage is not accidental, its senseless and often leads to the toilet blocks being shut. All this does is impact on us as students, and the time and money it costs to repair the damage could go towards other things like air conditioners or student formals and camps. So, we ask that you stop and think about what you are doing and hopefully our toilets can remain open for all of us to use.
We genuinely want to hear your ideas on how to improve our college for you and others. So please come and see any of us, or contact the SRC or your teachers with your ideas.
Best wishes for a great Term One,
Abigail Delia (School Captain), Arshdeep Singh (School Captain) and Tara Cudmore (SRC President)
Whole School Assembly
Our first whole school assembly was held this week, on Tuesday 21st February. We welcomed our College Dux from 2022, Aleisha Lippis, who gave an inspirational speech to our students. Our School House Captains were introduced and our Student Leadership team, in addition to our School Leadership team, provided important updates to our student community.
