Girls' Boarding News

It was a great weekend and the cool wet weather made it even better with most of the girls enjoying a play out in the rain on Sunday.

On Friday evening we went with the boys to the Araluen Arts Centre to see a series of locally made short films called ‘Unbroken Land’. There were some very inspiring films on the theme of 'water in the desert' and I was particularly impressed by the offering from OLSH which was beautifully danced and portrayed a very strong message. Mariah was very excited to see her friend from Ross Park not only in one of the films but also dancing on stage and there was also an Old Saint dancing too.

On Saturday morning the girls went into town – many thanks to Ernie from boys’ boarding who took them. In the evening we went to Sammy’s Pizza Restaurant – which is always a popular trip. The restaurant was very busy but the girls still managed to play on the playground! I am blessed this year with a wonderful group of boarding leaders who really shone on this outing. All I did was drive the bus, they did everything else - from ordering their own meals, to making sure everyone behaved, cleaning up afterwards and paying the bill. It’s been great to see how this group have stepped up this year and taken a caring approach towards the juniors.

On Sunday a bus load of boys and girls went for a trip to the Aviation Museum and then to Kmart, a great time was had by all, and in the afternoon some enthusiastic tie dyers went to work in the dining room. It was a very busy and enjoyable afternoon and we are looking forward to seeing the results in a day or two. Many thanks to Paul and Tammy for providing these  activities.

Not long till the end of term now, and with the majority of boarders returning home on Thursday the 1st April, the day before Good Friday,  the end of term will come round more quickly than normal. It seems as if it’s already time to start planning Term 2!
