Year 5 Sovereign Hill

The Year 5 students had a wonderful excursion to Sovereign Hill on Friday 19th March. We had an early start so that we could arrive at Sovereign Hill and enjoy all the wonderful learning and facilities. The children enjoyed a visit to a classroom where they were able to explore how the Gold Rush impacted Ballarat, the land and Australia in the 1850s. One of the many highlights was also going down into the Red Hill mine to find the Welcome Nugget and watching gold smelting demonstration.
Children enjoyed many other activities such as old fashioned bowling, having a horse and cart ride, panning for gold and of course visiting the lolly shop.
We had a fantastic day!
