Senior School Sport & Extra-Curricula Activities
1st XI Football Team - EREA National Champions 2021
Welcome back to Term 2.
It is pleasing to note that the NSW response to COVID-19 pandemic is such that we anticipate an easing of the restrictions that have been in place around our sports competitions over the last 12 months. As we finalise our COVID-19 plans for Winter Sport we will publish them in full through the College App along with any COVID plans relating to other schools.
Winter Sport begins this Saturday for our Rugby teams with a full program of cross-association fixtures at Oxford Falls. The ISA Competition for Rugby begins later this term. For our Footballers, the ISA Competition commences next Saturday, as we have a bye-round this weekend.
In Tennis, the main ISA Competition mirrors the Football program, however we do have a handful of games this weekend.
Please ensure your sons are fully equipped with ALL the correct uniform and safety equipment necessary for their respective sports.
I look forward to seeing you all during the season.
Mr Matt Stearn - Senior Sports Master

Dates for the diary
Mr Joe Lynch - Senior Rugby Convenor
Football didn’t stop just because it was school holidays!
Well done to Mr Richard Lacey and his team of coaches for the successful two day Football Camp held at Oxford Falls in the first week of the break. It was great to see such high levels of attendance, particularly from the Junior Years.
College 1st XI St Andrews Cup and EREA National Tournament.
Coming off their win in the NSWCIS Cup round of 16, the 1st XI participated in the St Andrews Cup tournament in the first week of the holidays. It was a tough week for the team, with performances below their high expectations.
In the second week of the holidays, the College 1st XI then flew to Queensland to participate in the EREA National Tournament, hosted by Nudgee College. The 1st XI were undefeated in their three round games enabling them to finish at the top of their pool. A dominant 3-0 win over Nudgee College in the semi final allowed them to make their way to the grand final against St Dominic’s Penrith. Coming up against a very strong physical outfit, the 1st XI saved their best performance of the holidays and managed to secure the title of EREA National Champions with a gutsy 1-0 victory.
ISA and House Competitions.
The ISA decided to commence the season in Week 2 of Term 2 due to the ANZAC Day weekend, therefore our season proper will kick off on Saturday 1 May. Times and venues for both competitions will be announced in each week’s Woodchatta.
The only exception to this is the 16B team who will play against St Spyridon's this Saturday 24 April at 10:00 am at Chifley. (Chifley Sports Reserve - 801- 899R Bunnerong Road, Chifley)

Welcome the beginning of the 2021 ISA Tennis season! We resume training next week and matches will begin on the Saturday following Week 2 (1 May). However, Our Division 14 and 16 teams will be playing their first matches this weekend (24 August) against St Spyridon’s College. This is due to their Orthodox Easter events. Information will be emailed to parents and players.
A reminder that we now have tennis shirts available at the uniform shop. These must be worn with the current College navy PE shorts. 2021 will be a transition year for uniform so the current school sport top with white shorts is still fine to wear.
