Welcome to all students for Term 2.
“Find a higher purpose to have in life to aim for – say no to mediocrity”
Please keep in mind our ongoing responsibilities around keeping our community safe. This means if your son has COVID-like symptoms please have him stay at home and get tested – the results need to be communicated the school prior to him returning at studentmanagement@stpiusx.nsw.edu.au.
We also remind all to continue to practice good hand-hygiene and social distancing. We have a QR Code sign in procedure both here at the College and at Oxford Falls and we ask all visitors to follow this process.
A timely reminder to all students that Term 2 represents a good opportunity to meet extra-curricula representative requirements in activities such as Football, Tennis, Rugby, Debating and Squash. All students are expected to represent the College in at least two terms of activity and there are a range of activities both inter-school and inter-house which our staff have developed this year.
Best wishes to Elliot Cook (Year 11) who will give the Commemorative ANZAC Day Dawn Service Address at the Chatswood Garden of Remembrance from 5.30 am this Sunday. Due to COVID there will be limited attendance within the Garden so please contact Chatswood RSL if you would like to attend. He will be joined by trumpeter Anthony Elliot who will play the Last Post and Reveille on Monday at our Whole School Assembly. We will also be represented at the Club Willoughby 7.00 am Service on Sunday by Matthew Brannan and Elliot Cook.
Congratulations to those students who represented us to great acclaim at the Kuring Gai Youth Counselling Services Fun Run at Lindfield last Sunday. We were represented by some highly accomplished runners including Jacob Magner, Matthew Hunt and Matthew North, while others led by Will Thomson volunteered, officiated and handed out over 1500m participant medals!
Will (Year 12) had a big day on Sunday also being commissioned as a senior Minister of the Eucharist at the Lindfield Holy Family Parish Youth Mass. Congratulations to all.
I would also like to recognise Ethan Griffin, Ronan Crispe and Tom Wong who all gave up the first afternoon of their holidays to serve others at Matt Talbot on Holy Thursday. These young men were fine ambassadors of the College & fully immersed themselves in the experience. Thank you also to Bill Gleeson who gave of his time to attend with the boys. Social Justice for Easter.
St Pius X College acknowledges our First Nations, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and particularly the Cammeraygal people,
whose interconnection with this land sustained and
fulfilled them mentally, physically, emotionally, socially and spiritually,
over thousands of years.
May we learn from their wisdom.
