Actions to support your young person's mental health over the school holidays
Encourage your young person/child to:
- Exercise as it boosts mood and mental health – make it fun! Shoot hoops/kick a ball together, dance, go for a bike ride
- Eat healthy food for brain nourishment and improve mood – experiment with new recipes, set a fruit and vegetable challenge!
- Prioritise good sleep to support mental and emotional wellbeing – try to maintain routine as much as possible during the holidays
- Stay in touch with friends and loved ones
- Practice positive self-talk
- Explore relaxation techniques – taking a nature walk, listening to music, deep breathing, mindfulness
- Seek professional help if required
