Actions to support your young person's mental health over the school holidays 

 

Encourage your young person/child to:

  • Exercise as it boosts mood and mental health – make it fun! Shoot hoops/kick a ball together, dance, go for a bike ride
  • Eat healthy food for brain nourishment and improve mood – experiment with new recipes, set a fruit and vegetable challenge!
  • Prioritise good sleep to support mental and emotional wellbeing – try to maintain routine as much as possible during the holidays
  • Stay in touch with friends and loved ones
  • Practice positive self-talk
  • Explore relaxation techniques – taking a nature walk, listening to music, deep breathing, mindfulness
  • Seek professional help if required
