Principal's Message
It is hard to believe that we are at the end of our first term together at SMPD. Like me, I am wondering if you are asking, “Where has this time gone? How fast has it flown? What have we achieved?”
If we stop and reflect on what we have achieved in the first term, it is very clear what we have done with our time and we should begin these holidays feeling very proud. We have settled 233 students as well as new teachers to our school. We have welcomed 42 new preps students and their families into our school community. We have spent time getting to know our students academically and personally. We are well on the way to fostering healthy student teacher relationships. We have met with you, our parents, to listen to the aspirations you have for your children at our learning conversations. This is all part of the SMDP vision of building an active and engaging learning community.
We have spent time setting our rules, expectations and Ways of Working, ensuring that they are understood by all, from our prep to our senior students. This will enable our students to feel safe in an exciting and stimulating learning atmosphere. We have made our learning visible to our students and discussed with them our ‘learning powers’ of motivation, resilience, reflection, curiosity, creativity and collaboration. These learning dispositions will lead our students to be confident learners and successful citizens.
We have gathered and prayed together. We have played, we have stretched our minds, imagined and discovered through learning. We have strengthened old friendships and fostered new ones. Our time has been well used and successful on many different levels. We have achieved great things in a short time.
As a school, we continue to focus on how we can further improve. We value your feedback to help us reflect on, adjust, modify and grow as a learning community. We would greatly appreciate it if you could give us feedback on your experience of Term 1 at SMDP.

I wish you all a happy and safe holiday and a peaceful Easter. I ask you to remember and reflect on the Easter message of forgiveness, hope and renewal. I am genuinely thankful for your support and encouragement throughout the term and look forward to your feedback and many exciting times ahead.
Thanks for your ongoing support and commitment of SMDP.
