Family Harmony Night

After 18 challenging months of being separated, all members of our Belmore School community were delighted to be able to finally join together on a mild autumn evening to enjoy our Family Harmony Night.  It was a wonderful experience for our students to spend an evening at school with members of their family.  They were so excited to catch up with their friends, introduce their teachers and participate in the wonderful variety of activities on offer.  I would like to take this opportunity to thank our amazing staff who worked diligently together to ensure the success of this important school community event.

On a personal note I thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to meet up with so many members of our school community, especially those working parents who find it difficult to come to school functions during the day.  The Belmore School staff in attendance also valued the time they were able to spend with the students and their families in a more relaxed context.  We all look forward to sharing many more of these opportunities with our Belmore School community in the future.

Easter Raffle

Thank you so much to our wonderful school community for supporting our Easter raffle.  Not only did you donate a range of Easter delights to enable us to create 18 scrumptious Easter gift baskets, you then purchased 630 raffle tickets enabling us to raise the magnificent total of $630.

Congratulations to our prize winners – we hope you enjoy your Easter treats.

Architect Appointment

Following a rigorous tender process, James Millar Architects Pty Ltd has been selected to provide Principal Consultation Services for the Belmore Capital Works Project.  James Millar along with Shing-him Chan, the architect from JMA who has experience in school redevelopment projects, will be working hard over the next 9 weeks to develop Asset Management Plan 2 (AMP 2) which involves developing a more detailed masterplan/spatial analysis in addition to broader site and project requirements.  Julie and I met with James and Shing-him this week and feel confident in their ability to understand the unique requirements of our school, students and staff in order to deliver a successful outcome.  James and Shing-him intend to collaborate with staff, school council and the wider school community to gain insight and input into the redevelopment of our very special school.

Generous Donation of iPads

This year State Schools’ Relief has partnered with Bank First and Gandel Philanthropy to provide iPads for non-verbal Victorian children enrolled in specialist schools. Our Business Manager Julie Nicholson submitted a substantial application and was rewarded with delivery of 19 iPads last week.  This most generous donation will upgrade and supplement our current set of iPads ensuring all students have individualised access to this engaging learning tool leading to increased educational outcomes.

Happy Holidays and Happy Easter

Congratulations to all students and staff who have embraced Term 1 with growing confidence and enthusiasm - I am so proud of all we have achieved.

I take this opportunity to wish everyone a very happy Easter celebrated with family and friends and I am sure, a visit from the Easter Bunny, followed by a safe and enjoyable two week school holiday break.  I look forward to welcoming all students and staff back to school on Monday 19 April.
