Junior School

When I was young, I was quite confused about why Jesus’s disciples did not immediately ‘get’ the truth of the Easter story, that he had risen from the dead. To me, the story was so obvious and so easy to picture in my mind’s eye. What was there to doubt? Looking back, I suspect the image that was so clear to me was probably the illustration from one of our children’s bibles.

As so often happens with age, I no longer find what was once easy to understand quite so simple anymore. Increasingly, I find the mysteries of our faith just that – mysterious - and I think I feel okay about that. I love and admire the simple, pure faith that children show when nurtured by their families and teachers; but I also love and admire the openness to wonder, awe and mystery that the wisest holy people show when they contemplate the vastness of God and God’s love. I think both examples are worth following and both can lead us closer to God.

I hope that your celebration of Easter and your holiday break were lovely times with the family. I always appreciate the chance to share school holiday times with my children; I hope your break was as good as mine. Now that we are well and truly back, I wish you all the best for a terrific Term. As the Term progresses, please reach out should any matters arise that you would like to discuss with either with myself or with your son’s teacher. We are all here because we love and care for your children and are always happy to assist.

Best wishes and God bless!
