Science

We are just coming to the end of our first topics in junior Science next week. All junior classes should have received their Student Research Projects for the semester. This will be the major assessment for this semester. The semester exam will be replaced with formative topic tests throughout the semester.

Our first excursion for the department took place on February 15 when the Year 12 Chemistry students travelled to Charles Sturt University for the day. The students were given an opportunity to use CSU facilities while working with the University staff to complete a range of practical activities found in their Chemistry course. Thanks to Mr. Fitzpatrick for taking these students.

A selection of Year 10 students take part in the Rotary Science Challenge March 2nd at Mater Dei College. These students will be given the opportunity to work alongside other Riverina school students to design and build a range of structures. These structures and projects will judged on the day. More information regarding placings on the day will follow. I thank Mr. Wheeler for all his organisation.

This year starts with new syllabuses for the Year 11 Biology, Chemistry and Physics courses. These courses provide up to date material for all students. The department will be providing online resources for these new courses in the near future to help support students. New texts with online support have just been issued.
