Faith Matters

at St Francis Xavier School

Dear St Francis Xavier Families,

March 2nd is Ash Wednesday and the beginning of our Lenten season of preparation for Easter.

The children will be experiencing a variety of activities to support their knowledge and understanding of the importance of this season during which there is always a focus on self reflection and helping others.

For many years now Catholic Schools have been involved in the collection of money for Project Compassion which seeks to raise funds to provide assistance through community projects and developments for disadvantaged communities throughout the world. In the past many of you will have received a Project Compassion Money Box and been invited to donate coins to this cause.

This year we have decided to put a box in each of the classrooms and children are welcome to bring coins from home should you wish to contribute. If your family would like a box at home please let me, their class teacher or the office know and we will send it via your child. If you would like more information about Project Compassion please have a look at the website information on https://www.caritas.org.au/project-compassion.

Last week I introduced you to two of our Year 6 Faith in Action Leaders and this week I would like to share a photo of Maria and Seerat who are also in the Faith in Action team.

Introducing Seerat and Maria

All our Year 6 Leaders are very keen to begin their roles and tomorrow we commence a series of workshops to plan the tasks and programs they wish to implement. We will begin by exploring Jesus' leadership skills and traits and how they are relevant to the services they will be providing to our school community.

Warmest wishes and blessings to you all.
