Port Fairy surfing trip

Last weekend over 20 boarders enjoyed the summer sun at Port Fairy, on our annual surfing weekend. It was a nice break from the heat of Hamilton to enjoy the cooler weather by the beach. We were certainly lucky to be blessed with gentle waves and no wind as our boarders tried their skill at surfing for the first time or as a more experienced board rider. Not only did boarders have a surf, they enjoyed some fish and chips, and then some shopping at the main street. A big thank you to all our boarders for their participation, and in particular, Luke Pickering (Year 10) who assisted in the organisation and running of the day. This weekend we’re looking forward to a hike up one of our local mountains, Mt Abrupt, located next to the town of Dunkeld.

Our boarders were treated to a BBQ on the Myrniong lawn for Valentine’s Day this week. With boarder’s pairing up and chatting away about their day, they relaxed together in the open air under the beautiful trees of our Myrniong lawns. The laughter and smiles said it all as our boarders continue to build strong connections with each other.

Welcome to our new Speirs Housemother

I am delighted to announce and welcome our Speirs Housemother for 2022. Caroline Coate is a local identity who has been warmly welcomed into the boarding community this week. Caroline has a background in nursing and is involved in the Uniting Church. Caroline is married to Steven and they have two adult children, Jessie and Teah who are 28 and 24. Caroline is looking forward to getting to know the boarders over the course of the next few weeks and each of our Speirs House families. A zoom meeting has been organised for our Speirs House families so as to formally meet and greet Caroline. I know Caroline’s appointment is an asset to our Boarding House and one that I am looking forward to see grow over the course of the years.

Welcome Caroline.
