FOOTSCRAY CITY COLLEGE HOSTED RECORD BREAKING MOCK INTERVIEWS

Thirty-seven employers participated in the Year 9 and 10 Mock Interviews this year. They ranged from two ex-students who are on their way to senior roles in banking, local government personnel and banking executives.

Thank you to the support of Ardoch and manager Nick Gabb as the Career Service does not have the connections, networks and resources to arrange thirty-seven extremely high-profile people. Let alone ask them to take half a day off work.

Thank you to Maureen and her class who at the last minute helped with front of house arrangements and the year 9 and 10 teachers who steadily sent their classes for interviews.

I was overwhelmed with compliments about our students.

One employer noted that they would have hired the young girl being interviewed on the spot while others pointed out students who have achieved extraordinary things in their short lives and how they would be an asset to any business.

Both year 9 and year 10 students are developing essential life skills in managing their careers which is a key outcome of the new careers framework.

As you may be aware, the year 9 students have now unlocked their E-portfolios, and in 2020 the rest of the school will be allocated their E-portfolio.

The first item that will be stored in these portfolios will be a student's resume and examples of covering letters followed by their career action plans.
