Great Ocean Walk

From the 7-10th May, the VCE units 1 and 2 Outdoor Education students took on the winter elements to hike along the iconic Great Ocean Walk. Starting at Johanna Beach, students then proceeded to travel down the walking trail to Aire River (day 2) before finishing at the Cape Otway Lighthouse (day 3).

Whilst changes to the camp occurred to accommodate the weather (and resulting 40mm of rain) the students were required to hike 40km+ across 3 days, camping in cold, blustery conditions, all while enjoying the remoteness of the Otway National and State parks. Understandably, the students were weary by the last day, however they all should be commended for their attitude on the trail and their persistence to completing the trip. Students next trip will be a 80km canoe paddle along the Murray River in October.
