Hands on Learning

Throughout this term, students involved in Hands on Learning have undertaken several projects to improve the school grounds. The major project involved the removal of dilapidated drinking troughs and installing new state of the art hydration stations.  The students have learnt a variety of skilled tool applications including jack hammering, tool handling, concrete construction and processing a job from beginning to end.  Teamwork and collaboration has been a major focus as well as the ability to work autonomously.

Critical Thinking Challenge Day

Last week students in the EXCEL Academic program participated in a critical and creative thinking day focusing on STEM. Students worked in cross age groups to develop a functional bionic arm using basic household equipment such as cardboard, straws & string. Each group was able to develop a prototype over the course of the day.
