Cross Country

On Tuesday, 2nd of April students in Years 7-12 participated in our annual House Cross Country trials. It was the perfect day for running and students eagerly awaited the start of their 3km or 5km run around Patterson River Secondary College and the Kananook Creek Trail.

All students participated with the chance of qualifying for the  Northern Peninsula Division Cross Country trials. House spirit was also evident as all students that participated received important points for their House and each student that finished in the top 12 for their age group received bonus points.

It was a close finish but a big congratulations goes to Freeman House for achieving first place at our Cross Country Carnival with 184 points. Following closely behind was Aston House with 183 points, Monash House with 148 points and Derrimut with 112 points.  All students are to be congratulated on their efforts and I was extremely pleased to see students modelling excellent behavior, praise and respect for each other and great community spirit dressing in their House colours and contributing to their House points. Thank you to the staff members, VCAL students and House Leaders who assisted on the day.

61 students qualified to represent Patterson River Secondary College at the District Cross Country trials at Ballam Park on Thursday, 9th May.

Athletics Carnival

Friday 24th May was the Patterson River Secondary College Annual Athletics Carnival.

The weather forecast did look favorably on all the reports, however in typical Melbourne style, all reports were incorrect.

Although the weather was damp, it did not deter our athletes.  The students participated to the best of their abilities and showed that they were not going to be put off by an uncontrollable factor.

All the athletes remained focused and determined to break records in their chosen events.

With the additions of novelty races this year including the egg and spoon race and tug of war, all students attending had the opportunity to be involved and took that opportunity with both hands.

Congratulations to all that were involved.  The final results were;

1st ASTON – 1431

2nd FREEMAN – 1422

3rd DERRIMUT – 1342

4th MONASH – 1317

We, as a PE faculty and a college were so proud of the efforts that the students put in considering the conditions.  A huge thankyou to all the staff also, that were unwavering in their dedication to recording results.  All the staff were just as wet as the students but got the job done.
