Respect Group

On Monday 20th May 2019, PRSC celebrated IDaHoBIT Day (International Day against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexism and Transphobia) AKA Rainbow Day. Through the efforts of our College’s RESPECT Group we hosted a morning tea in the PAC foyer. Bandanas were made by the RESPECT group members to create a colourful presence. Frankston Youth Services also supported this event by contributing yummy food, photo booth fun and decorations.

On the day we shared six key messages that reflected the six colours of the Pride Flag:

Red: Supporting diversity matters to young people

Orange: Feeling safe allows us to learn

Yellow: Many gender diverse young people know about their sexuality by age 15

Green: Teachers/School Staff are important to young people and can make a real difference in their lives

Blue: How you offer support matters

Purple: Positive and inclusive schools lead to improved outcomes for young people

It was amazing to see so many students and staff attending this event and we would like to thank everyone for their support. Funds raised will go towards LGBTIQ+ resources.

If any students are passionate about the LGBTIQ+ community and would like to support our College’s RESPECT Group please join in. Our meetings are on every Tuesday lunchtime in B1. All welcome J

Our next awareness event is Wear It Purple Day celebrated on Tuesday 27th August

Thanks,

RESPECT Group – Wellbeing Team
