VCE PREMIERS AWARDS

On Monday Mr Noble, Mr Hudd and I attended the VCE Premiers Awards. Lucia Roohizadegan and Jiting Li received the Top Achievers Award and Will Hardy received the Award for Music Performance. This is quite a remarkable achievement and a testament to the students and their hard-working teachers.

It was a wonderful event and I could not be more proud of these students. Congratulations and well done!

YEAR 12 QUIZ NIGHT

This year our Year 12 students have already raised more money for charity than any other previous year level. Their efforts continued on Friday 31 May with the first ever Year 12 Quiz Night.

Four staff teams and 280 students attended a hilarious, well run, engaging and challenging night. The Senior School Council organized food, prizes, and activities for the event. It was a commendable effort and I would like to thank Myles Kelemen, Xavier Verdnik, Hannah St John, Chad Aizicowitz, Gemma Strangio, Adam Alfawwal, Liam Atchison, Michael Birkett, Sophie Van Doorn, Jack Mills, Arwen Verdnik, Erika Phan, Caleb Goldwaser for their organisation and presentation on the night. I would also to acknowledge The Bolchevixs and Stand Out for the live performances and the many local sponsors that rallied to support our community event. We are hoping that this will become a yearly tradition.  Well done team!

Below is a link to the many photos that were taken on the night.

EXAMINATION WEEK

I wish all students the very best during the examination period.

It is indeed quite a stressful time for students but revision and doing practice questions should help prepare them to perform as well as possible. I have to say I am very impressed by the endeavour and dedication I am observing.

YEAR 9 CAREERS

This is the first year of a new State Government initiative for all Year 9 State school students.

The program involves students completing a special careers testing tool - the Morrisby test. This has been used by many private schools for many years.

After completing the Morrisby test in week 2, students were then interviewed by outside Morrisby trained careers counsellors over the last 2 weeks.

The feedback from students was very positive and they will be able to re-use the test for many years.

We will also use the results of the test when students attend careers counselling later in the year.

It has been an excellent program and very beneficial to the students and I would like to acknowledge Mr Eddie Mest for organising this great initiative.

TRAFFIC – SCHOOL ZONE SPEED LIMITS

I would like to remind all parents to be careful when driving along McKinnon Road. It is very congested and at times dangerous, particularly when it is wet!  Please be patient!  Please be aware of street signs and adhere to road rules. Parents are being booked daily by parking officers from Glen Eira Council.

The school car park must also not be accessed by parents during school hours.

The speed limit is always 40km per hour along McKinnon Road and U-turns are not allowed. We have many students riding bikes so please be careful parking and opening doors.
