Mental Health & Wellbeing Report

“One of the most important roles of schools is to help kids find their spark.” – Dr Michael Carr-Gregg

Dear Parents and Carers,

Dental Care

Did you know that your child may be eligible for basic dental treatment through Medicare? The Child Dental Benefits Schedule covers part or the full cost of some basic dental services for children if you get certain payments from Centrelink. You can claim up to $1,026 for each child over 2 consecutive calendar years for each eligible child.

To get this your child must be all of the following:

  • 0 to 17 years old for at least one day that calendar year
  • eligible for Medicare
  • getting a payment from Centrelink at least once a year, or have a parent getting a payment from Centrelink at least once a year.

Positive Affirmations

Affirmations can assist with your child's emotional well being, anxiety, enhance their self esteem, confidence and positive self talk. When a child's level of self esteem is increased it helps build their resilience to bullying and other negative life situations and events. Kids and young adults can use a positive affirmation list by reading the words to themselves or out loud, discussing how they might help, and identifying which phrases would work best.

Here are some examples of positive affirmations you can encourage your child to use:

There is no one better to be than myselfI have people who love and respect meIt’s okay not to know everything
I am an amazing personI can work through my problemsMy challenges help me grow
Today I am a leaderI forgive myself for my mistakesI can control my own happiness
My mistakes help me learn and growToday is going to be a great dayI have courage and confidence
