Middle School
From the Head of Middle School
Values and Christian Service
This week, Middle School students commenced their last rotation of clubs in Values and Christian Service (VACS).
Clubs on offer this term were Christmas Craft Workshops, Code Breaking, Cooking, Cricket, Girls AFL, Lawn Bowls at Emu Point, Lego Masters, Minecraft, Learn to Row, Service Learning, Skating at the Pump Track and Water Colour Painting. These are amazing options where students can try new and unique activities that they may have never been exposed to before. Significantly, by the end of the year, all Year Sevens would have completed four hours of service at the Gilcreek Scout campsite, mainly doing gardening and path repair. There is always a sense of satisfaction when they have completed the group tasks knowing they have made a difference. The Girls AFL club is under the instruction of the Great Southern AFL Development Officer and I am sure they will have a great time developing their skills. Lawn Bowls is often popular with students who like to take their sport at a more leisurely pace, but they soon find out that it is a difficult sport to master. Thanks to the senior bowlers at Emu Point for their instruction and patience. The Christmas Craft and Painting groups will hopefully provide some great things for under, (or on), the Christmas tree this year. Thanks to all of our staff for making this great contribution to enrich our student's lives.
Year Nine Picnic in the Park
We will be holding an end of Middle School event, the 'Picnic in the Park', for all Year Nine students and families, as a celebration of their time in the Middle School. After consultation with students and staff, we want to provide a fun, sociable event that is inclusive and accessible to all Year Nines and their families. Families have been emailed an invitation directly with the details below.
Food BYO picnic or Emu Point Café will be open for food, ice creams, coffee and drinks. A menu of meal choices and costs will be sent out prior to the day.
Games There will be a variety of social games set up on the beach and the park. Students will not be able to swim as there will not be any supervision for water activities.
RSVP Please RSVP via the email link that has been sent out.
We look forward to enjoying a relaxing evening of music and food and celebrating the past year at school.

Year Seven Camp Experience Days
This week, on Monday and Tuesday, the Year Seven students had the opportunity to go off-campus all day and participate in a wide range of fun experiences. They went Ten Pin Bowling, explored the Princess Royal Forts, walked along the boardwalk, had a BBQ at Eyre Park, swam in Ellen Cove, jumped off the jetty and had surf lessons with Mike from South Coast surfing.
These two days were a fantastic way to celebrate our successful first year of Middle School, and also in place of our Year Seven Camp.
