From the Deputy Principal

P&F AGM

We are so fortunate to have a committed and active P&F who so willingly give their time for our school community. The P&F is vital in bringing families together and connecting us all. Please see below a message from Mr Jim Darmody, P&F President.

At 6.00pm on Wednesday 16 November, the GSG P&F will hold its Term Four meeting and AGM at the Pratten Centre Board Room. It is at this meeting that we will call for nominations to fill the vacant P&F executive roles in 2023. This year we are looking for a secretary and a Vice President.

There will also be opportunities in other management roles in the P&F and discussion about the future structure of the P&F management team in light of the changing school structure.  Other general business will include discussion of the Kingfisher Fair in 2023.

Please come along to this meeting if you can, or join us via the Microsoft Teams link here

If you have any questions regarding the P&F and would like to ask them prior to the meeting, don’t hesitate to contact me on 0428910220 or at jimbodar@hotmail.com

The 'finish' line

It's a closed weekend, half-way through the term and almost the end of the school year. There are so many points in time coalescing to give us an opportunity to stop and reflect as we gallop towards 'the finish line' (as people I've been speaking to call it). But, this makes me wonder where the finish line is, or if it even exists. The old adages spring to mind about being careful about wishing your life away or spending so much time looking forward to what is coming next that we fail to stop and enjoy the present.

This week I had many moments to stop and reflect on what an exciting and fulfilling time 'just this minute' is. This afternoon we celebrated a boarders versus day students netball match and I so enjoyed hearing students cheering each other on and enjoying a relaxed afternoon.

My Year Twelves are in the process of finishing exams and whilst I miss them, I am very excited for them about the new futures they are facing. I have been learning all sorts of new things about software packages we use here at school and celebrating the successes of Year Eight Hospitality students' culinary creations. I encourage you to focus on the blessings we have right now and to shift your focus from 'the finish line' to 'this moment in time'.
