Curriculum

Wow! Time is flying by in Term Four and it is already Week 7! It was amazing to see all of the speeches during the public speaking competition that ran last week on the Tuesday. A big thank you to Ms. Chooi for organising the amazing day!

In Writing sessions last week, students were busy early in the week focusing on their grammar skills with lots of mini-focus sessions. Later in the week, we had the opportunity to put all of these skills into practice when creating a narrative piece for our Big Write. This was an awesome opportunity to also apply some of the risk-taking that we have been working on throughout the year as well. Next week, students will begin to create advertisements for their Guided Inquiry projects!

Throughout our reading sessions, students have been working hard to investigate different authors and their writing styles. When looking at the writing styles we also investigated characterisation and compared and contrasted characterisation between different authors. During small focus sessions, we even spent some time investigating the personal lives of different authors and discussed how their life experiences could impact their writing styles.  Next week we will continue to compare and contrast different authors in depth.

During Mathematics sessions last week, students explored concepts around opportunity and opportunity cost and how businesses try and take these into consideration when coming up with a business strategy. Later in the week, we began to create business plans for our Guided Inquiry projects. It was awesome to see the students investigating all of the different aspects of their business and start to investigate loans and repayment rates.

It was amazing to see so many 3D-printed projects created in Tinkercad for Guided Inquiry over the past week. We have unfortunately experienced some setbacks with the printing of these 3D projects, but hopefully, the printers will continue to operate successfully to allow us to print more student-designed products over the coming weeks! We can’t wait to see all of the finished 3D-printed products!

Have a wonderful week!
