THE ICAN PROGRAM

MS MANDY MCCALLUM & MS JORGIE ALLEN - WELLBEING TEAM

The ICan Program has come to an end after many of our students have been participating in it for the last two terms. This program allowed students who were involved to express their interests and their feelings. It also helped support and encourage the students to be confident in themselves and what they believe in. Beau and Nicholas from the ICAN Program created an atmosphere that the students were excited to be around, giving them the confidence to speak in front of everyone in the room and the opportunity to have a voice. This was challenged in their last session when the students were asked to present something that interests them. Some interests included swimming, photography, sewing, cats, video games and supportive people in their life. Jess Burge presented to the group her pet bearded dragon named Fang. She taught us all about what Fang could eat and everyone gave Fang a pat. To see these students build their confidence during the program and be willing to present to the group when presenting was incredible. This program may be finished, but we hope these students continue to show others just how amazing they are.
