PRINCIPAL UPDATE

Good afternoon everyone,

I cannot believe we are at week 5 of the term already.  Certainly is a busy term with a lot happening.

Thank you to everyone that supported setting up for the Art Show.  Particular classes visited this afternoon, with further classes attending tomorrow and Thursday morning.  We look forward to welcoming families in over the next couple of afternoons.  I would like to take this opportunity to again thank Deb Fisher for her amazing efforts with the organisation of this event, to Rohan Perrott and his musicians for volunteering their time to entertain the crowd, and to each and every student for contributing the amazing artwork!!!! I would also like to thank the Hamilton family for allowing us to use the wonderful venue. Very generous, and the perfect backdrop to showcase such talent.

Planning for 2023

We are currently heavily involved in planning for 2023 at this time, finalising staffing and programs for the commencement of next year.  I would like to inform you that we are introducing Performing Arts to Chilwell.  Once we finalise the successful applicant for this position, we will be working with them to develop  a program whereby they will be incorporating dance, music, drama and singing across P to 6 into a new class, along with current specialists already offered.

Classes for 2023

Many factors are considered in the placement of students into classes including, but not limited to, the individual’s academic and social learning. If you believe there are students that your child learns well with, or is not so productive, within class, which you feel the classroom teacher is not aware of, please put this in writing to me by no later than 9am on Thursday 10th November

Please note these are requests only and the final outcome is NOT guaranteed. We use multiple sources of information when developing classes and a great deal of factors are considered.

Victorian State Election Saturday November 26th

This year Chilwell will again be a voting location for the State election.  We are going to take this opportunity to put on a BBQ and Bake Stall.  This will not only be for external voters, but encouraging our families to catch up with an egg and bacon roll or sausage in bread, even just a coffee and cake while children have a play in the school grounds.  We will be using funds raised to enhance the courtyard area that the current prep students and staff are eagerly brainstorming for.  More information will come regarding this, and will be seeking volunteers to assist with the BBQ and stall.

I thank the parents that have already volunteered time in the preparation and running of this event, and look forward to engaging with more parents in the lead up to and on the day.

Have a great week.

Meg
