EAL Students explore the Plant Kingdom

In the last few weeks, the English as an Additional Language (EAL) students has been exploring the Plant Kingdom.  They have looked at different kinds of plants.  They have sung songs to help them learn the different parts of a plant.  Some have eaten a 'whole plant' - roots (carrot), stem (celery), leaves (lettuce), flower (broccoli), and seeds (green peas).  We have looked at seeds germinating.  Some have made a plant person and others have made a terrarium.  We have read non-fiction books and fiction books, including The Potato People by Pamela Allen.

The EAL Students' observations have helped to provide inspiration for their writing, including brainstorms, recounts, and 'How to...' - procedures.
