Festival of Light

On Monday 24th October, students at NMPS had a celebration for Diwali.

The Festival of Lights is a five-day celebration in the Hindu calendar with Diwali (the third day) being one of the most auspicious days.

Students and teachers gathered in the library at playtime to listen to a story about Diwali followed by some lantern-making and rangoli colouring. It was fantastic to see some students dressed up in traditional clothing and share how they celebrate with their own families.

Happy Diwali!

Diwali Celebration in the Kitchen

The photos show an Ethiopian lentil dish called 'berbere' and we served it with flat breads. Although Berbere is not Indian it uses a lot of Indian spices.  Students acknowledged the festival of light by preparing their serving plates in a Rangoli pattern, as this represents happiness and positivity and we always welcome these qualities in the kitchen.
